
Bellamy Young, born Amy Maria Young on 19 February 1970 ([1]) was an American actor, producer, and singer , best well-known for her character Melody "Mellie", Grant, in ABC's drama series Scandal (2012)-2018. The actress was awarded this year's Critics' choice Television award for best supporting actress in dramas. She also starred in the Fox show Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young's acting journey began with the theatre. In 1997 Young made her Broadway debut in the role of Mary in the first production of The Life. [8][9] Her Off-Broadway appearances include in Stephen Sondheim's We Rock Along (1994) as well as Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). [3][10] In 1995, she made her television debut as a regular on The NBC daytime soap show Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. The actress guest-starred on Law & Order in 1997 and 1998, in two role. Her debut film came in 1999 when she played a part in Black and White's crime drama. The actress later appeared in other independent films. Then, in the beginning of 2000, she was invited to guest-star in a variety of TV comedies and dramas, including The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young has had more than 30 appearances in TV shows from 2000 to 2011.
