Niykee who's had a whirlwind few years including being selected by Snoop to join Snoop at the YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee keeps a steady songwriting schedule despite this. Now a magnet for up-and-coming producers, she regularly combs through beats that are sent to her and finds that many are able to spark song ideas. "I'll be able to discern in the first five seconds whether it's a great beat. When I've got an idea in my head, I will start writing straight away." My guitar is set up on the back porch and I let the lyrics flow. Most of the time, it's done in less than 30 minutes. Niykee is continuing to improve her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She says that the pain she experienced during her childhood is a constant sources of inspiration. When I'm not writing in a literal way about what has been a part of my life, all the pain of my childhood and the loss of my sister end up getting pushed into my songs, she states. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and adds a greater sense of meaning that I believe is crucial. I would like to be able to listen to my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of my words.
